Accessible Services
Broadway Grand Rapids is committed to providing people with disabilities access to Broadway performances in Grand Rapids. Should you have questions or need accommodations that are not listed below, please give us a call at (616) 235-6285 Monday through Friday from 9 AM – 4:30 PM or send a message via our contact page for assistance. Requests can also be made to the DeVos Place ADA Coordinator at (616) 742-6600
American Sign Language Interpretation
American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation is available throughout the season. Many of our Broadway shows have an interpreted performance prescheduled. A full list of performances are below.
If you need ASL interpretation at a performance that is not listed, please contact Broadway Grand Rapids at least two (2) weeks in advance of the performance. This will allow us to secure interpreters. Interpretation services are not guaranteed for every event; however, we will make every effort to accommodate each request with appropriate advance notice.
Open Captioning
Open Captioning (OC) is a service for people with hearing loss that uses a text display to provide a simultaneous translation of dialogue and lyrics during a live performance, as well as a description of any sound effects on stage. Many of our Broadway shows have an Open Caption performance prescheduled. A full list of performances are below.
Audio Description
Audio Description (AD) services are available throughout the season. Actions on the stage(along with visual elements such as settings, facial expressions, costumes, and scene changes)are described live by a qualified describer and transmitted to a small device used by the guest to hear. Many of our Broadway shows have an Audio Described performance prescheduled. A full list of performances are below.
Telecoil / Hearing Loop
The Tele-coil Hearing Loop system in place allows hearing aids to serve as wireless loudspeakers, delivering clear, sharp, customized sound right inside the ear. An induction loop system transmits magnetic energy to telecoil-equipped hearing aids through a wire that surrounds the audience. Patrons simply flip a switch on their T-coil equipped hearing aid and the sound is transmitted directly into their ears.
